Chief of Staff – Water

The Chief of Staff in the Water Utility is a position that reports directly to the Executive Director – Head of the Water utility. The overall role is a support function to the Head of the Water utility in all aspects of the business, specifically around strategy, communication, coordination, and interaction with all stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Planning of activities in the Water Utility and overall schedule controls of Head of Water
  • Management of Executive level policies across the Water Utility
  • Management of Control aspects of the Water Utility at the Executive Level
  • Overall Strategy Management of the Water Utility in coordination with the Head of Water
  • Manage minutes of executive meetings and follow-up of agenda items
  • Provide input, guidance, and support to the Head of Water as well as other Water executive team members
  • Ensure timely communication and coordination with external stakeholders of Water Utility at the Executive level
  • Capability to support/Stand in for Director levels of different departments when required.
  • Presentation capability for all aspects of the business at the executive level
  • Capability to evaluate, analyze and challenge governing functions of the water utility and recommend changes and improvements
  • Executive level communication and Marketing and assist with a Marketing role
  • Essentially a very wide purview of the functions of the entity with a Business Management degree is normally preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Previous Strategy management and similar position
  • This is an overall Director role looking for good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Water-related experience is beneficial but not essential
  • Previous experience of the Chief of Staff will be beneficial
  • Knowledge of the Water Market globally is beneficial but not essential
  • Highly developed commercial acumen
  • Experience in a dynamic complex commercial organization, managing multiple projects
  • Ability to persuade and influence people at all levels
  • Innovative approach, eager to challenge the status quo
  • Ability to focus on short and long-term strategic objectives
  • Business/Marketing management skills and related degrees

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor Degree
  • Director-level experience is essential
  • MBA will be seen very favorably
