The senior scientist will advance the opportunities related to research in high recovery desalination and brine processing. The position will focus on water R&D and innovation and on identifying, negotiating, and implementing leading-edge technologies in NEOM. She/he will be a catalyst for technology/chemical product development and implementation.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Identification, Negotiation, and Integration of Leading Edge Technologies mainly in high recover membrane desalination and brine processing (“Seawater Mining”)
  • Implementation of new technology into NEOM Water system in collaboration with other water departments
  • Designing, proposing, implementing, reviewing, and correcting plans to ensure company goals are achieved
  • Work with R&D team and water supply team in Research Projects
  • Work in Collaboration with brine complex teams and Universities to bring Leading edge technology into the designs of the Process.
  • Optimize production processes with academic/industrial partners, conduct research, and find ways to increase efficiency and quality
  • Attract KSA, GCC, and Global players/R&D institutes to new technologies
  • Help to deliver high-quality, innovative project solutions that provide real value to NEOM
  • Play a real part in the NEOM strategic planning and direction around new technologies
  • Assist in the development of technologies utilizing byproducts from the traditional water production approaches and look to develop circular economy approaches with reuse
  • Collaboration within NEOM between all related departments and Government organizations
  • Collaboration between all departments in Water
  • Collaboration with the Energy supply department

Education & Experience

  • Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering
  • Water-related qualification
  • Industry-specific knowledge may be required
  • Strong understanding of chemistry, mathematics, and engineering principles
  • Exceptional problem solving, verbal and written communication, presentation, and project management skills
  • 8-10 years of experience in water or similar fields
  • Global Water related experience

  • Strong scientific background with publications or patents
