NEOM and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) signed an agreement to establish a Center for Excellence in Science specialized in NEOM project research at the KAUST campus during a ceremony in Riyadh.
The agreement aims to provide a center for research and education, offering solutions that support the new city project and contribute to national development in areas including sustainable energy, urban planning, agriculture, seismology, water desalination, artificial intelligence, data, and sensors.
“Thanks to this distinguished partnership, the two sides will be able to harness their common potential to support Saudi Arabia’s ambitious vision and achieve the desired impact,” said Eng. Nazmi Al-Nasr, KAUST’s Acting President.
Al-Nasr added that this cooperation is an important achievement for Saudi Arabia, especially as we are witnessing an era of national transformation, where many hopes and aspirations are placed on national institutions with intellectual capital and great capabilities such as King Abdullah University of Science and Technology and NEOM.
As a first step, NEOM and KAUST aspire to expand their contribution to the development of sustainable technologies to harness them in critical areas of the Kingdom and the world to serve humanity. The two parties also seek to attract other research and development institutions to participate in this task.
“In less than 10 years, KAUST has been able to become a driving force for innovation and scientific and technological progress in Saudi Arabia and the world,” said Dr. Klaus Kleinfeld, Chief Executive Officer of NEOM.
Today, through this partnership, NEOM and KAUST together in one vision to deliver promising achievements in important areas of the Kingdom and the world, and to work to give answers and solutions to the most difficult questions and challenges.
