NEOM, the sustainable regional development taking shape in northwest Saudi Arabia, has announced its latest tourism destination, Leyja, which offers a unique blend of nature, culture, and adventure. Leyja is located in a natural valley between 400-meter-high mountains that have been shaped by water over centuries. The valley is rich in history and mythology, as it was once home to ancient civilizations and mythical creatures.
Leyja builds on NEOM’s ongoing commitment to becoming a multi-faceted destination that supports the Kingdom’s efforts to build a strong and sustainable tourism industry under Saudi Vision 2030. Aligned with NEOM’s strategy to designate 95% of its land as a nature reserve, Leyja will preserve its natural beauty and biodiversity for future generations.
Leyja has three hotels that are designed by world-leading architects to complement the surrounding nature, operate sustainably, and provide distinct experiences for guests. The hotels are:
- The Rocker: This hotel is tailor-made for active adventure seekers who want to explore the valley’s rock formations and enjoy activities such as rock climbing, hiking, biking, and rappelling. The hotel has a deconstructed design that ascends the walls of the wadi like a staircase, creating stunning views of the landscape. The hotel also features a rooftop infinity pool that overlooks the valley.
- The Oasis: This hotel rises from the rock to sit at the heart of the Wadi’s largest oasis, functioning as an enchanting gateway to discovery and exploration of the valley that continues beyond. The hotel has an impressive staircase that ascends from the canyon to the entrance of the property, offering unrivaled views of the valley in all its beauty. The hotel also features a wellness center that promotes longevity with advanced technology.
- The Reflection: This hotel is an immersive wellness retreat that promotes longevity with a high-tech, reflective façade that mirrors the surrounding beauty and valley walls. This allows visitors to interact with nature through the wadi’s natural passage through the property’s center. The hotel also features a spa that offers holistic treatments using local herbs and minerals.
Once developed, Leyja will offer an extensive selection of refined experiences and activities for guests who want to enjoy their stay in this oasis of serenity. These include fine dining and contemporary restaurants presented by world-renowned chefs, wellness facilities such as yoga studios and meditation rooms, rooftop infinity-style pools across all three hotels, and guided wadi walks along scenic trails set in dramatic mountain landscapes.
Leyja is expected to open in 2025 as part of NEOM’s flagship regions: Sindalah (a luxury island destination), THE LINE (a cognitive linear city), Trojena (a year-round mountain destination), Oxagon (a reimagined industrial city), Epicon (a futuristic city), Siranna (a nature-inspired city).
